Our objectives are to foster social and professional contact between members. We aim to promote good business relationships between the companies, clients and other travel organisations.
Women in Tourism Gold Coast (WIT) is a not for profit networking organisation where Gold Coast professional business women (and men) meet on the first Friday of each month.
Our core objective is to create networking events that foster relationships, encouraging growth within our industry and your business.
Our committee is strictly volunteer based - consisting of 14 passionate members of our local Gold Coast tourism industry.
Women in Tourism Gold Coast contributes to not for profit organisations across our region, with funds raised throughout the year via our networking breakfasts ticket sales, raffles and auctions.
From these funds raised, WIT Gold Coast is able to provide quarterly donations to charities seeking immediate assistance (by application), donate to Cancer Council Queensland following our October breakfast and present funds to our four nominated annual charities at our December Christmas breakfast.
For 2016 those charities are:
October breakfast funds
In addition to our monthly breakfasts, we encourage networking through our WIT at the Flicks, WIT and Wine and WIT and Learn events along with attending regular industry gatherings through Gold Coast Tourism..
HISTORY OF WOMEN IN TOURISM GOLD COAST
Women in Tourism (Gold Coast) Inc (formerly Gold Coast Women's Australian Travel League) was formed in July 1987. Reflecting the changing times and to make membership available to more women (and men), in March 2002, the Association changed its name to Women in Tourism (Gold Coast) Inc.
Women in Tourism Gold Coast has been active in the community for over 25 years and is committed to bringing professionals within the tourism industry from our venues, tour operators, small business owners and suppliers together each month to present the current issues, hear from leaders in our industry and city, and provide a centralised location for networking.
In the last 12 months Women in Tourism has donated over $10,000 to local charities. Women in Tourism Gold coast has also seen a 35% increase in attendance to our events year-on-year, as well as a 13% growth in our membership because we have never swayed from the core purpose of the organisation – to support, promote and showcase the amazing products and services the Gold Coast has to offer.
