In partnership with Destination Gold Coast's inaugural Gold Coast Tourism Week - July's guest speaker is Meaghan Scanlon - Assistant Minister for Tourism Industry Development. Meaghan will discuss what it has been like growing up on the Gold Coast, empowering women in the industry and why women need to be supported in positions of influence in the 21st century.
Meaghan Scanlon is a proud member of the Palaszczuk Government.
Having grown up in one of Queensland’s major tourist destinations, the Gold Coast, Meaghan is committed to ensuring the continued growth and success of Queensland’s tourism industry.
Prior to being elected, Meaghan worked as a solicitor and advisor to a federal Labor Senator. Meaghan was elected to the seat of Gaven on the Gold Coast on 25 November 2017. Believing in empowering women to enact progressive change in Queensland, Meaghan recognises the vast opportunities for leadership afforded in tourism. Meaghan is committed to growing Queensland’s tourism sector- an industry worth $25 billion and employing one in every 10 Queenslanders. Meaghan is proud to be a member of the Palaszczuk Government, led by a female Premier and female Deputy Premier.
As Assistant Minister for Tourism Industry Development, Meaghan will be a strong advocate for women in leadership in our state’s tourism sector.
